Though results normally mirror the actual election outcomes, Florida students chose Hillary Clinton in two of three mock elections, indicating a growing political disconnect between generations, political watchers said.
Participants in OneVote, the largest national mock election, gave Clinton 53 percent of the vote to Donald Trump’s 35 percent, handing a significant majority of states – including Florida – to the Democratic candidate.
The Florida Student Mock Election also handed the state to Clinton by a slightly larger margin: 54.3 percent to 34.7 percent. But another national poll – the app After School – had Trump winning 47.8 percent to Clinton’s 34.8, with Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan in the Republican’s column.
